Alex Hadley is the oldest member of the Australian Paralympic swimming team and has already competed at two Paralympic Games. Alex competed at the Atlanta and Athens Games, but unfortunately missed out on the Sydney Games.
His greatest sporting moment was his incredible win at the 2002 World Championships in the 400m freestyle. After a neck and neck race, Alex came home strong in the last 50m to defeat an Englishman, the current and undefeated world champion. Not only was his win a great achievement, but for Alex, making an Englishman cry was the icing on the cake.
With swimming champion Grant Hackett as inspiration, Alex is aiming to break the world record in the 400m freestyle and make the team for the 2008 Beijing Games.
When he’s not in the pool, Alex enjoys table tennis and has been paragliding and jet skiing, which he sees as some of the best but scariest experiences of his life.
