Annabelle Williams

Annie Williams is a star on the rise! The bubbly teenager, who made her first major Australian team for the Melbourne Commonwealth Games, finished 2006 ranked number two in the world for the 50m freestyle and number three for the 100m freestyle.

Originally a track and field athlete, Annie was forced out of the sport after a series of stress fractures. That could turn out to be a blessing in disguise.

The highlight of Annie’s short career is her bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games, where friends and family were on the pool deck for her lap of honour.

Annie has recently completed her HSC and now hopes to combine studies at Sydney University with her increasing training schedule.

Goals for the future include representing Australia at the Paralympic Games. She says “that’s a very big goal that will take a lot of hard work! At the moment I will just keep training and see where it takes me”.

Annie’s secret to success; “People are successful if they enjoy what they’re doing.”
