An amputee as a result of meningococcal, Bridie Kean knows first hand how having a disability can bring unexpected challenges – she was once kicked out of a beach house for leaving her legs lying around. However, she believes it’s her drive and determination that sets her apart from others.
In 2005, Bridie spent a gap year in England. Although she describes travelling alone as the scariest thing she’s ever done, she thoroughly enjoyed the travel and has since visited the University of Illinois to train with their team.
Bridie first represented Australia at the IWBF Qualification tournament in 2007, and her proudest moment was being selected for the Australian team.
She is studying a Bachelor of Marketing at Monash University and currently plays for the Knox Raiders/Dandenong Ranges. An up and coming athlete, she is hoping to compete at Beijing in 2008.
