Carlee Beattie knows better than most people how to choose the right food to eat before a competition. She is studying nutrition at the Australian College of Natural Medicine and hopes one day to be a sports nutritionist.
Carlee, who was born without a fully formed arm, has a lot on her plate as she prepares for her first Paralympics. Not only is she racing in the 100m sprint, she is also participating in the javelin. She is a good netball player as well and has the award for the most valuable player from the Netball State Titles in 2000 to back it up.
Raised in a sporty family with two brothers, Carlee loves spending time with her family. She also loves going to the movies and the beach, reading a good thriller novel and painting when she has the time. The thought of public speaking strikes fear into Carlee, but she can’t decide if it is scarier than learning to drive. She is enjoying being engaged in the build up towards Beijing.
