Ellie Cole

Ellie Cole is 14 years of age and this makes her the youngest member of the Australian Disabled swimming team. Ellie was diagnosed with cancer at the age of two and underwent Chemotherapy. After a round of Chemotherapy that did not reduce the cancer her parents were given the agonising decision on whether to amputate Ellie’s leg to save her life. Ellie had her right leg amputated on Valentines Day when she was just three years old.

The IPC World swimming championships will be Ellie’s debut into the world of elite swimming. Ellie showed her promise at this year’s Open Swimming Nationals by winning the 100m Backstroke. Australian record holder Ellie Cole is one of the faces to watch in Australian swimming.
