Jason Maroney is one of Australia’s top shooters. A car accident left Jason a quadriplegic. He owns a small farm in his native Victoria which gives him plenty of space to practise and further enhance his shooting skills.
Jason first competed in shooting in 2004 and in 2005 represented Australia at the Open European Championships in Poland. He believes his best performance was at the FESPIC Games in 2006 where he won a silver medal.
Jason is coached by Miroslav Sipek and is a member of the Wangaratta Rifle Club. He owes his success to the friends he has made through shooting and his mum, who are the driving forces behind his campaign to Beijing.
Jason believes in living his life to the fullest and spends a lot of his time on his farm and attending to his garden. He describes himself as friendly, funny and a flirt and loves to have a good laugh and a nice meal. With Beijing in the pipeline, Jason is right on target to winning a medal.
