Jessica Gallagher

Jessica Gallagher is a newcomer to the Paralympic program but is already training for two sports. Her pet events are long jump, discus, shot put, 100m and 200m. She is also a member of the Australian alpine skiing team in the events downhill, super G, GS, and slalom after being talent identified following a weeks training at Thredbo with the Australian ski team head coach. She is therefore also training for the winter Paralympics in Vancouver 2010.

Jessica became involved in the Paralympic program after she contacted the APC inquiring about competing in Beijing. Since then she has been training for her main goal to become the first Paralympian to win multiple gold at concurrent summer and winter Paralympics.

Jessica was born with a rare eye disease which left her with the loss of her central vision, and is consequently legally blind.

Apart from athletics and skiing, Jessica is currently completing her masters of osteopathy and hopes to one day open her own osteopathic practice, specialising in treating sport-related injuries.
