Ricardo Moffati

Ricardo Moffatti strongly believes ‘you only live once’ so he lives life at full throttle, making the most of every moment. Describing himself as genuine and energised, at 21 Ricardo has competed successfully at the highest levels of swimming.

The 2004 Athens Paralympic Games were the highlight of Ricardo’s career, where he won silver in the 4×100m freestyle relay and a bronze in the 100m freestyle. It is his bronze medal that he cherishes most, as he was able to sing the national anthem on the podium with fellow Australian Ben Austin who won gold in the same race.

Ricardo’s love of water extends beyond the pool – he loves surfing and all water sports and keeps a salt-water aquarium full of fish and coral which he adds to constantly.

Outside swimming, he is training to become a certified personal trainer and enjoys cycling, admiring Lance Armstrong for both his sporting achievements and his determination.

Although he missed out on the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games, Ricardo is aiming high for Beijing with the goal of swimming under 60 seconds in his pet event, the 100m freestyle.
