Russell Boaden

Russell Boaden loves a good challenge. With his sights set on the Beijing Paralympic Games and the World Titles, he has his work cut out for him.

Describing himself as passionate, loyal and determined, sailing is a sport he has approached with enthusiasm, with high goals of medalling at Beijing.

Russell first competed in sailing in 2002, and has since competed in the 2007 IFDS Disabled Sailing World Championships in Rochester where he placed in two races, finishing first and third.

He injured his brachial after a motorbike accident. Despite this, as well as sailing, he is quite the sportsman when it comes to golf, darts, badminton, pool, snooker and table tennis, rivalling anyone who takes him on.

He admires Tiger Woods and Mick Doohan for their determination and success in sport and seeks inspiration from them as he trains. With such motivational role models, Russell is one step closer to success in Beijing.
