Each state will be hosting a Welcome Home Celebration for our Paralympic athletes. In WA and ACT these celebrations will jointly celebrate the achievements of the Olympic and Paralympic Teams.
It would be great if some schools could come along to not only celebrate the achievements of our Paralympians but also provide students with the opportunity to meet the athletes and get their autographs.
The details available so far are:
WA - Monday 22 September at Forrest Place. It has been recommended the schools arrive by 12pm (there will be giveaways and entertainment) with the formal proceedings to commence at 12.30pm. Due to finish at 1.30pm.
ACT - Tuesday 23 September at Civic Square. It has been recommended that schools arrive at 11.30am (there will be giveaways and entertainment) with the formal proceedings to commence at 12.30pm. Due to finish at 1.30-2pm.
SA - Thursday 25 September at the Adelaide Town Hall. It has been recommended that schools arrive at 10.15am with the formal proceedings to commence at 10.45pm (due to finish at 12:30pm). The formal proceedings being held inside the Town Hall are an ‘invitation only' event but students are welcome to gather outside to welcome and congratulate the athletes with the opportunity to get autographs and photos.
QLD - Monday 29 September at Queen Street Mall. It has been recommended that schools arrive at 12pm with the Paralympians arriving at 12:15pm. The MC will invite the public to come forward for a photo / authograph opportunity. Formal proceedings will commence at 12:55pm and conclude at 1:30pm.
NSW - Tuesday 30 September at the Sydney Town Hall. It has been recommended that schools arrive at 11:30am where the public will be able to come forward for photo and autograph opportunities. An invitation only function will commence at 12:30pm inside the Town Hall. More details will be posted as they come to hand.
VIC - awaiting confirmation of dates/times/venues. Details will be posted on this website once they become available.
Note: the APC will not be able to confirm which athletes will be attending each function.
