About PEP

Teaching and Learning Resources matching state/territory curriculum and using the Paralympics as a main theme

The Australian Paralympic Committee(or APC) the governing body for Paralympic sport in Australia. (APCAustralian Paralympic Committee - The governing body for Paralympic sport in Australia.) is committed to promoting the Paralympic movement, Paralympic athletes and their achievements. Our Paralympians have earned the respect of the nation and many have become role models in the community.

The Paralympic Education Program(or PEP) -An education program produced by the Australian Paralympic Committee to develop students' knowledge of the Paralympic movement. (PEPParalympic Education Program - An education program produced by the Australian Paralympic Committee to develop students' knowledge of the Paralympic movement.) is aimed at developing an awareness of the Paralympic Games, Paralympic sports and Paralympic athletes. At the same time, students will gain an understanding of disabilities, health issues, social issues and the value of sport to all members of the community.

Students can gain this understanding through the teaching and learning resources and the student portals which will give them an insight into all areas of Paralympic sport through a modern and high-tech website.

In the lead up to the LondonHome of the 2012 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games. 2012 Paralympic Games (and beyond), the Paralympic Education Program also aims to build the support network of school children to help cheer on the Australian Paralympic Team.

The contribution of sport to Australia’s national identity as well as to an individual’s personal development is well acknowledged. The Paralympic Education Program will help to develop in students the knowledge and understanding, skills and attitudes needed to lead healthy, active and rewarding lives.
